ALESSIA CARA MAKES HER LOS ANGELES DEBUT @ THE TROUBADOUR

Canadian Alessia Cara made her highly anticipated Los Angeles debut at The Troubadour. Signed to Def Jam records based on her Soundcloud page that included covers of Lorde, The Neighbourhood, Sam Smith and Justin Bieber, this show marked Alessia's first headlining gig.

TRAILER FOR MISS PEREGRINE'S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN PREMEIRES; FEATURES SONG BY "NEW WORLD COMING" BY DISA



Love this new trailer for "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children" directed by Tim Burton. Based off the best-selling book series by Ransom Riggs, the trailer stars Asa Putterfield, Eva Greens, Samuel L. Jackson, Allison Janney, Ella Purnell and Judi Dench and hits theaters September 30th. 
  
The song featured on this trailer is by Islandic singer DISA.  The original  1970 song "New World Coming" is by Mama Cass but this trailer uses the darker cover version by Nina Simone covered a year later sung.  

Here's what she had to say on her Facebook page:  "So just before I faint I want to share with you a dream of mine that just came true...Im singing a cover of Nina Simone's ¨New World Coming¨ in the the first trailer for the new Tim Burton - Official Page film, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. Omg."

Ransom Rigg's book series consists of three books starting with 2011's  "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children"  followed by "Hollow City" and finally "Library of Souls" which was released this past September.

HEARTWATCH @ THE ECHO

Heartwatch

Saturday marked the Los Angeles debut of Heartwatch who performed to a sold out show at The Echo.  The Bay Area five-piece who's new single "Never Let You Go" was featured on Entertainment Weekly's bands to watch  just released their new self-titled album which dropped last month.  

It's their electric, lively shows that has cemented this group, led by Claire George as one of San Francisoc's most promising new acts.



Their critically acclaimed 2014 debut EP Wind House has garnered them even more exposure which led them to perform at popular music fests such as Noise Pop, Outside Lands Music Festival and Phono Del Sol Music Festival.    



Described as "poppy, blood-pumping music that bears traces of  everything from Scandinavian pop to disco-punk to classic 90's alt-rock,” by Sterogum, Heartwatch has led the way as one of San Francisco's most buzz-worthy acts.

Check out Alessia Cara's new video for "Wild Things," sort of an ode to Spike Jonze's "Where the Wild Things Are" with look-alike fonts and  the care-free youth mentality that lives within us all.

"Wild Things" if from Alessia's debut album Knot-It-All via Def Jam records. Cara is set to play a string of dates in Europe including Paris and London before heading back across the pond to finish her tour in Canada in April.

THE KILLS DROP ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM; WORLD TOUR


With the announcement of their fifth record Ash and Ice, The Kills have also announced their headline world tour beginning next month in Mexico City and then playing a string of shows at SXSW in Austin before performing at Coachella in April.  After that, they're heading to major cities like New York, Paris, Chicago, San Francisco, Moscow and London.  

The London duo, consisting of Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince also just dropped their first single "Doing It To Death off of Ash and Ice which drops June 3rd.  You can pre-order right HERE.
