Caleb and Georgia Nott of BROODS

The stars aligned at last Thursday's Broods show at the Fonda Theatre.

It was only a year ago when the Broods, consisting of New Zealand siblings Georgia and Caleb Nott, played a free show at the very tiny Bardot's in Hollywood.  Now, they're selling out venues like The Fonda Theatre that saw celebrity fans Taylor Swift, Ellie Goulding, Chloe Grace Moretz and Haim's Este Haim watching and singing along from the upper mezzanine.

Singing mostly songs off their debut album Evergreen, Georgia,  dressed in a white, sheer one-piece, seemed to flow onstage, matching the silky, white streamers which billowed upwards, from behind, towards the ceiling.  During the show the brother/sister duo recounted their first U.S. show at the Bardot and loving the fact that everyone knew their lyrics.

Earlier in the night, Mikky Ekko not only warmed up the crowd as the opening act, he surely picked up a lot of new fans, including myself with his rousing vocals and pop-soulful melodies.  It's quite a feat when an opening act still stays in my mind after a few days.
