Diana Ross

LAS VEGAS (January 26, 2015) – AEG Live and The Venetian Las Vegas announced a special nine-show engagement at The Venetian Theatre with world-renowned legend Diana Ross. The Essential Diana Ross: Some Memories Never Fade will perform April 1-18, 2015. Tickets go on sale Friday, January 30, at 10 a.m.

Diana Ross’ famed and remarkable career spanning almost five decades has included major awards and accolades, and music history milestones. One of the most prominent women in popular music history, Ross is inarguably a consummate performer and significant contributor to the world of pop culture music in the late 20th century.

The legendary singer will perform nine show dates: April 1, 3, 4, 8, 10, 11, 15, 17, and 18

“Las Vegas attracts the biggest names in the world, so it is only fitting that one of the most remarkable entertainers of all time brings her talent to a uniquely intimate stage,” said John Nelson, senior vice president, AEG Live Las Vegas. “This limited engagement will allow audience members an unforgettable experience with a living legend.”

A unique presentation designed especially for The Venetian Theatre, The Essential Diana Ross: Some Memories Never Fadewill highlight the original diva’s illustrious career that has spanned more than five decades. From Motown classics (“Ain’t No Mountain High Enough”) to pop favorites (“I’m Coming Out”) and heartfelt hits (“Endless Love”), the limited engagement production features a carefully curated set list covering Ross’ musical milestones. Set inside the intimate Venetian Theatre, audiences will feel as though they can “Reach Out and Touch” the singer, who Billboard named "Female Entertainer of the Century."

“The Venetian Las Vegas has established itself as a premier luxury destination, which includes some of the finest entertainment offerings on the Strip,” said John Caparella, president and chief operating officer for The Venetian, The Palazzo and Sands Expo.  “We are looking forward to adding to that reputation when Diana Ross steps onto the stage of The Venetian Theatre on April 1.”

Beginning in the ‘60s, as lead singer of the world-renowned group, The Supremes, Ross achieved the unprecedented feat of 12 number-one singles in the U.S. becoming the most successful American group in history and rivaled only by The Beatles for the position of the biggest hit group of that generation. DianaRoss went on to achieve six number-one singles as a solo artist amassing a total of 18 number-one hits. Diana Ross’ phenomenal music career is marked by chart and commercial successes. In the U.S. alone, to date, she has tallied 31 Top Ten singles and 14 Top Ten Albums selling over 100 million units around the globe.

Career milestones include induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, The Songwriters Hall of Fame, National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences (NARAS) Hero Award, NAACP Entertainer Award, Billboard’s Female Entertainer of the Century Award, The Soul Train Legend Award and International Lifetime Achievement at the World Music Awards. The icon is forever cemented in history with two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  “Stop! In The Name of Love,” “Where Did Our Love Go” and “You Keep Me Hangin’ On” have all been inducted into the NARAS Hall of Fame.  “Stop! In The Name of Love” and “You Can’t Hurry Love” are among The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s Songs that Shaped Rock & Roll. In February 2012, The National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences bestowed one of its highest honors to Ms. Ross by presenting to her the Grammy’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

Tickets, starting at $59.50 (plus applicable fees), go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. at any Venetian or Palazzo Box Office, online at or by calling (702) 414-9000 or (866) 641-7469.

Wolf Alice
Wolf Alice roared into their  Los Angeles debut at Bardot Hollywood.
Wolf Alice marched into Bardot's Hollywood with a full on guitar-assault and roaring vocals from front-woman Ellie Roswell.

It was a day of firsts for Wolf Alice.  Earlier in the day, they made their U.S. radio debut on KCRW's "Morning Becomes Ecclectic."  Last night was their Los Angeles live debut and this tour marks their first headlining tour on this side of the Atlantic - all unfamiliar and new from this four-piece band from London. What was familiar to them was the rain that greeted them all day. "We brought the rain with us," joked Roswell.  But the rain didn't stop die-hard fans from seeing Wolf Alice; packing Bardot from wall-to-wall.  Half the crowd had to watch from monitors in the adjoining room.

Wolf Alice got the crowd into a frenzy, launching straight into "Moaning Lisa Smile," one of their biggest and loudest hits. While most of their set included songs off their Creature Songs and Blush EPs, Wolf Alice did tease the crowd with new songs "You're Love's Whore," "Giant Peach" and "You're a Germ," which are off their upcoming debut album which should drop later this year. Also this night, they pulled out something from the way back machine - "90 Mile Beach," a song they rarely play anymore but relearned it after learning it was getting a lot of airplay on KCRW.

Currently working on their debut album, we'll likely get to hear their new songs when Wolf Alice returns to tour the U.S. again next month.

Wolf Alice continue their U.S. tour in New York where they've already sold out the Mercury Lounge on Jan. 30th.  On March 14th, they return to Los Angeles when they perform at the Bootleg Theatre  before they make their second appearance at this year's SXSW in Austin.

Being crowned the first American Idol, Kelly Clarkson has always had that special place in my heart.  She's also my favorite winner to come out of Idol in it's 14 seasons.  And considering she's had this long career while most of the Idol's failed to launch their careers, Clarkson seems to be getting better and better with each album release.

Today she announced that March 3rd will be the release date for her upcoming album Piece by Piece.  It'll be her sixth studio album in a career that has seen her sell over 20 million albums worldwide, nabbed 3 Grammy awards and seen 10 singles reach the top 10 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart.

Below, you can listen to her first single "Heartbeat Song" which is available now on iTunes right here:

Here's a hidden gem from San Francisco's own Hidden in the Sun.  With warming vocal tones from front-woman Lizzie Clapper, their new single "San Francisco Blues" is brimming with nostalgia with welcoming melodies. And with a delicate piano arrangement "San Francisco Blues" makes you long for safety; reminding  you that all roads in life will always, eventually, lead you back home.

"San Francisco Blues" is off Hidden in the Sun's  upcoming debut album Seven Seasons.

Five Knives

Nashville's electro-pop four-piece Five Knives scored their very first top 5 Billboard Club hit with their single "Sugar."  The song has already been streamed over 250,000 times on Spotify and their official music video had it's release earlier this week.

Consisting of Anna M'Queen, Nathan Barlow, Zach Hall and Shane Wise, Five Knives, echoes a soundtrack to the post-apocalyptic world of Mad Max, this foursome gives new meaning to sonic landscaping, layering pop, metal, R&B and electro to fuse unique and fresh sounds all their own.

Bjork Vulnicura

Just as Madonna released her new album ahead of schedule due to internet leaks, Bjork was forced to do the same when she released her new album Vulnicura last night via iTunes.

Orginally planned for a March release, Bjork's ninth studio album is the follow-up to her 2011 album Biophilia.

She also announced a string of intimate shows in New York in March and April.  Those shows include stops at City Center, Carnegie Hall and New York's music fest Governors Ball which takes place in June.

Rita OraCharli XCX

Rolling Stone just named Charli XCX's Sucker album as the Best Pop Album of 2014. Billboard listed her at #2 on their list.  And she capped off the year with a Grammy nomination.  2014 was certainly a breakout year for Charli XCX (aka: Charlotte Emma Aitchison).  From all-star collaborations with Iggy Azalea on this year's biggest hit "Fancy," to personally being handpicked by Lorde to collaborate on The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 soundtrack, Charli XCX is certainly in high demand.  That demand has seen her songs sell over 14 million copies in the past 19 months.

And what better way to kick off the new year with a new collaboration.  Her new video, released today, is for her song "Doing It" featuring Rita Ora.  It's a tribute to "Thelma and Louis" as the two partners-in-crime cruise the desert in their dirty, pink, old truck robbing stores and being chased by cops.

“Rita is just someone who I get. She has so much to give as an artist and a person, she knows how to be a real and have a wild time," says Charli.  " ‘Doing It’ was something I played to her ages ago and she loved it, so I thought I should definitely get her on it."

“I had a blast making this video with Charli," Rita Ora says. " I think you'll be able to tell how much fun it was when you see it!”

It was actually during this shoot that Charli revealed the two almost died during filming when she crashed the monster truck in the desert.

"I nearly killed both of us on the set by crashing this Barbie truck into the middle of the desert," Charli XCX tells Metro. "There were no air bags. It was this old truck. It was a death-trap! But we made it out alive and the video is so great..."

Next up for Charli? She heading on the road with Katy Perry supporting Katy on her arena tour in February and March.  After that she'll perform at London's prestigious Shepherd's Bush Empire and then New York's Governor's Ball.

Check out the official music video for "Doing It" featuring Rita Ora below.

Pay attention to this band from Brookyn.  Cultfever is indie pop duo Tamara Jafar and Joe Durniak.

They recently released their new track "Gloria," a soaring track that will satisfy both your audio and visual senses.  It's been awhile since a song has left me feeling  like I was taken on an adventure through time and space while also leaving me feeling exhausted at the same time.  Let's just say I caught the bug...or the 'fever' so to speak.

Forming in 2010, both Tamara and Joe immediately found chemistry by way of their visual story-telling through music.  Through that chemistry, they released their debut album in 2011 and then their Animals EP in 2013 which landed them featured spots in SXSW, CMJ and many other festivals.  Currently, Cultfever are putting the finishing touches on their second full-length record.

Known for her brutally honest lyrics, Tove Lo has confessed lyrically in the past to ''seeing it all..going to sex clubs..getting high all the time and being too easy."

In her new song "Talking Body" Tove Lo doesn't want to play games and waste time speaking to someone to try and get to know them. The only compatibility she's concerned with is how great the sex is because, as she says, "If you love me right. We fuck for life."  The only talking going on is the language of love which, as we all know, is the universal language - Body Talking.

Her song which is off her debut album Queen of the Clouds which dropped in September has a video to accompany the dark and smoky dance beat  where we see Tove Lo going club to club, hooking up with a wanted criminal.  See how it all ends below.

Betty Who

In Betty Who's song "All Of You," love isn't always perfect. Most of the time it's worth fighting for as she sings "I'll give you romance, a hundred last chances too. But I wanna go and get lost with you...I want you to give me all of you."

The song, which was released two years ago, finally has an official music video where we see Betty Who exact payback for her boyfriend stranding her on the side of a road with a baseball.

Check out the video below.

In a land brimming with musical talent which brought the music world the likes of Iggy Azalea, 5 Seconds of Summer and Sia in recent years, Australia looks to be continuing that trend with their newest artist - Peyton.  Armed with the electronic beats of M.I.A. and the dynamic vocal tone of Lana Del Rey, Peyton is the newest breakout artist hailing from Perth, Australia.

She just released her newest single "New York Era" which will be released in February.  Pulling from rea-life current events, the song was inspired by Petyon's recent trip to America.   You can stream her song below.

I saw this floating around Facebook today and couldn't help but post this. Someone re-made the Coachalle poster only highlighting girl bands.  I've seen it posted with the caption "Equal Opportunity for Women 2015" and I couldn't agree more.

I count 25 women-fronted acts out of 161 bands or roughly 15% of this years acts in Coachella are female-fronted.  Now discuss...

Wolf Alice

Two of my loves are in this vid below.  1) Arrow on the CW.  Love this show. Love this show. Love this show.  2) Wolf Alice's song "Moaning Lisa Smile" is featured in this new trailer for Arrow's upcoming season.

The commercial is for the upcoming third season of Arrow which returns to the CW on January 21st.  And if you watched the midseason (ahem) 'cliffhanger' finale then I know you're stoked about this upcoming season as much as me.

By the way, UK's Wolf Alice will be heading out on their first U.S. tour at the end of January with stops in Los Angeles and New York. They are also scheduled to perform at this year's SXSW in Austin for the second year in a row.

That moment when you click on an artist and then realize you accidentally clicked on someone else...

That moment when you accidentally click on an artist and then realize you clicked on someone else...

Flushed with pastel-like melodies, "Disappointed" features a tender piano accompaniment followed by powerful vocals.

Call it a pleasant surprise when this lovely, beautiful song started playing through my speakers;  instantly fall in love and end up listening to the entire EP "Something's Gonna Happen" by Nashville's Ivory Layne. Check it out below.

Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams and New Found Glory's Chad Gilbert, after seven years of dating, are officially engaged. That's if you believe the tweets they sent out on New Year's Eve stating "Hey guess what?" with a photoshopped pic of the two wearing a suit and wedding dress.  Gilbert, meanwhile, tweeted "Popped the question on Christmas Day."
