With her new album set to be released later this year, it was speculated, after she collaborating with Weezer's Rivers Cuomo and Vampire Weekend, that Charli XCX would make more of a rock album, utilizing more of an aggressive sound with live instruments.

But a few months ago, she's since gone back to her pop roots, telling Pop Justice, “I was making a punk album! I was over the music industry, I was over all of it. And I went to Sweden and made a punk album...but now I’ve made a pop record."
Her recent releases seem to prove the pop direction with the release of her most recent hit "Boom Clap" and "Break the Rules" which are expected to be included in the new album.
And this week, it was announced that Lorde, who is curating the upcoming "Hunger Games: Mockingjay" soundtrack, has tapped Charli XCX to include on of her songs to the album.
Currently on her North American tour, Charli XCX will hit all the major cities including New York, Chicago, Austin, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
