I can't wait for this season NBC's The Voice! Not only is it the best singing competitions out there, this season, we'll see one of our favorite singers Cassadee Pope and, I'm sure, other local favorites that will wow the judges. Last season, we saw Naia Kete and Juliet Simms (to name a few) that we've covered here on this site.

The Voice: Season 3 commercial features ZZ Ward's song "Put the Gun Down."

Now, with NBC promoting season 3 which premieres September 10th, new ads are popping up all over.  One such commercial popped out at me when I heard the voice singing "Put it Down" and I realized it was none other that the song "Put the Gun Down" by ZZ Ward which is off her Criminal EP which came out earlier this year.  This past year, ZZ Ward has toured with Allen Stone and is set to get down and dirty on her very own "Down and Dirty Shine" tour beginning next month ahead of the release of her debut album Til The Casket Drops on October 16th!!

Dominique Pruitt
What perfect timing to start our holiday weekend!! Last month we posted Dominique Pruitt's first single "To Win Your Love."  Today, Dominique released the official music video for the song.

Hailing from Los Angeles, Pruitt’s new single “To Win Your Love” is solid retro that echoes the soul of classic Supremes with fuzzy Shangri-Las pop melodies. A perfect song for the summer with beachy vibes.  Fun and catchy with a modern twist, this fiery vocalist's lead single “To Win Your Love” is a promising sneak peek at her upcoming album that Dominique is currently recording. We can't wait!

The Indecent
The Indecent
The Indecent are playing Viper Room September 18th to celebrate the release of their debut Warner Bros Records EP "Control."

Born and raised in New York City, triplets Emily, Bo and Maddy Brout have been playing guitars and writing songs since they were eight, influenced by Black Sabbath, Sonic Youth and Patti Smith. They recruited their friend Nick to play drums and became The Indecent.

On the strength of their homemade demos, the foursome toured throughout the UK, landing on the cover of British fashion mag Disorder.  They also caught the ear of producer Tim Sommer, who helped develop the Beastie Boys.

The five songs on "Control" sound like Seattle grunge and New York in the 70's had a baby through an 18 year-old surrogate in 2012.  Nylon magazine recently premiered the title track: and today Rolling Stone premiered their video "Here Comes Another":

Canadian indie-rockers Metric are no strangers to having their music set to visuals. After all, their songs can be heard on "CSI: Miami," "Grey's Anatomy," "Entourage," "One Tree Hill," "90210," "Twilight," "CSI: NY," "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World," "The Vampire Diaries" and a handful of video games.

So it's unsurprising that the band feels comfortable releasing a Sony-branded video (filmed entirely on Xperia Ion smartphones and directed by Chris Lenox Smith) for "Synthetica," the title track off their fifth studio album.  Check out the rest of the exclusive interview and Q&A session at Huffington Post right HERE.

Directed by Chris Lenox Smith, the entire video was shot in HD on the Xperia ion Sony smartphone. Metric's fifth full-length studio album. Synthetica, is out now and available at . Tickets and information on Metric shows:

Trevor Kelly and Rachel Taylor of He is We performs at the Troubadour.

Today it was announced that singer and founding member of the Tocoma-based band He Is We Rachel Taylor is leaving the band after fighting ongoing health issues that found it impossible for her to continue touring.

In a statement released today:

“Rachel is hands down one of the most talented individuals I know and have ever had the pleasure to work with,” explained acoustic guitarist/songwriter Trevor Kelly. “He Is We has been our baby since we were 18 and it's incredible to see how it has grown and affected people just as it has affected us.” With Rachel’s health making it impossible to continue, she has made the decision to leave the band. “Rachel has voiced that this is the right time to for her to step down for she has become unhealthy and restricted to what she can and cannot do with He Is We,” says Trevor. “I hope everyone supports her in this decision and continues to support her in any future endeavors she finds herself in.”

In her place, the band has brought on vocalist Stevie Scott to join Trevor Kelly along with their touring band Jake RAndle, Carman Kubanda and Harrison Allen.

“I feel so incredibly privileged and honored being asked to be a part of the He Is We family,” said Stevie. “This has been a dream come true of mine for quite some time. I'm so blessed and excited to get to add my colors and sounds to this next chapter in the He Is We story.”

Currently writing music for their sophomore album due in 2013, the newly-cemented band are hard at work focused on the next chapter for He Is We. “I know all of this seems unconventional and may be hard to understand,” he explains, “but as a fan, I want each and every one of you to know I will never give up and neither will anyone else on the He Is We team.”

Their debut album My Forever debuted on Billboard's Heatseekers Album Chart at #6 and on iTunes' Pop Album Chart at #3. They have been winning accolades in media from Alternative Press (“big enough for live sing-alongs and sweet enough for to soundtrack next year’s prom”) to AbsolutePunk (“For just a debut record, My Forever has set He Is We up for greatness”) to (“If you love sweet, straightforward, melodic pop music, you owe it to yourself to listen to He Is We”).

Dominique Pruitt
It’s not often that I get blown away after listening to a song from a new artist.  In Dominique Pruitt’s case, she’s a new artist with an old soul. There was a slight Australian flavor on the Santa Monica Pier last week as people came out to listen to the sounds of down under - specifically, "Australia Rocks The Pier" as part of Santa Monica's free Twilight Concert Series every Thursday nights.

Australian musicians D. Henry Fenton and Matt Ellis opened the night but it was Kasey Chambers who was the highlight with her country-rock and blue-grass sounds that had fans dancing in the isles and on the beach below.

It was also a family affair this night. Kasey touring with her father Bill who played on guitar and she even brought out her baby daughter Poet on stage to close out the night.  Even with over 5,000 in attendance, the concert felt like an intimate affair, feeling more like a VH1 storytellers show as Kasey told stories about her childhood, learning to play guitar and going to her first concert when her dad took her to watch Lucinda Williams. It was that concert that made Kasey realize that she wanted to be a musician.

Kicking off her tour in Santa Monica, Chambers just released her latest album Storybook, a fifteen song collection that inspired her to become a singer.  On Storybook, Kasey works her magic on gutsy, soulful tunes hand-picked from the iconic songbooks of Gram Parsons, Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle, John Prine, Townes Van Zandt and more.

She continues her tour which will last until December.  You can purchase her new album Storybook HERE and her brand new autobiography "A Little Bird Told Me," published by Harper Collins right HERE

Santa Monica's free Twilight Concert series continues this Thursday with the Parade Collective and on September 6th, the Pier will host west coast darlings Best Coast. Click HERE for the rest of the lineup.
