Cathleen Johnson
Cathleen Johnson

The new single, “Make a Change” by Cathleen Johnson has that Southern comfort feel of sipping iced cold lemonade among a field of daisies bending to the breeze, while watching the sky turn gray to the impending hurricane. A pop enlightened acoustic guitar country song with a lemon wedge of hope. Johnson’s vocals have a yearning fluttering twang as if raising herself from her washboard knees and forcing a positive wail from within that breaks through her woeful tears, “It’s time to make a change.”

This is Cathleen Johnson’s first single and has been getting instant radio airplay since its debut in September. Hollywood Pop Academy was instrumental in Johnson’s development of this song, for it was at this academy where she was inspired to write and record this feature track. And although the song has a country Western genre sound, Johnson herself is originally from the Philippines , where she eventually moved to Canada in her early childhood, and now as an adult, resides in Los Angeles. Not a lick of true Southern in her, though her vocals truly reflects that soulful Southern hankering.

Her voice may not sound familiar, not just yet, but one might have spotted her appearance many a times. She was cast in the film Going Back (2001) starring Casper Van-dien. And for television, she guest starred on award winning series such as “The Shield” and “Saving Grace.” The talent for Cathleen Johnson is definitely there, it is just a matter of time before she is discovered by the lime light.
