Sorry of the lack of posts. My work schedule has changed and now I have to get up for work at 3:30 am!! Whoa! Which means I haven’t been to any shows as of late but once my body gets used to this gawd-awful schedule, I’ll be back to watching shows in no time!! Just bring on the coffee!!

But anyways, one of the last shows I went to was Killola’s launch of their North American Tour at the Roxy! Co-headlining the event was the Pop/Alternative group Action Design.

Seeing Killola a number of times, I never get tired of watching this band. It’s like watching a new show each time. And with an arsenal of great songs, you’re sure to get a different show each night. Sparkplug Lisa Riefell looked sexy, as usual, this night in a white dress shirt. Killola, as usual, brought out the raw energy they’re famous for, playing familiar classic tunes like “Don’t Know” (one of my favorites) and newer songs, like their current hit single, “All of My Idols Are Dead” from their latest album, I AM THE MESSER which you can download for free at their widget below, courtesy of KILLOLA. You can download all ten songs for free and also get two bonus songs! How freakin’ cool is that?!!!

The treat this night was seeing Action Design, whose house-party sounds energized this all-ages crowd – including yours truly. Their new album, Never Say, from Popsmear Records is available on Tuesday. It’s filled with polished vocals from Emily and Jaycen's laserlike crisp guitars along with heart-thumping beats from Jake to dance to. Self-described as, "..."a refreshing mix of the band's punk rock roots infused with hard hitting dance rhythms and catchy bass lines wrought with think memorable vocal hooks..." Never Say includes catchy songs like, “Landmines,” and "Pale Horizon” that’ll make you wanna roll down the windows and sing along at the top of your lungs. This new album is fun to listen to and it truly shows on-stage. Just finishing Warped Tour, Action Design will be touring with Killola until October but they’ll be back Oct. 29th when they play in Riverside.

Monsters Are Waiting at The Getty Museum

Last Friday, I was able to catch Monsters Are Waiting at The Getty Museum's "Fridays Off The 405" series. It's a free outdoor event at an awesome location above Los Angeles so I was looking forward to seeing them play after what seemed like a very long hiatus. But boy! Word of advice - take a cab, bus or park a couple miles away and walk or ride a bike to the Getty. After being stuck in traffic for over an hour just to get into the parking structure, I managed to catch the last half of MAW's set.

Showing up in full preggo-mode, Annalee and the rest of the crew basically rawked out for a little over an hour in support of their new 6-track EP, "Ones and Zeros" from Kanine Records. Monsters Are Waiting are no strangers to the L.A. music scene. Their shows are always packed and their live shows is something you definitely have to experience. "Ones and Zeros," MAW's first EP started where their debut album, "Fascination," left off. Each song solidifying Monsters Are Waiting as the one of the best indie bands in L.A. Their lush arrangements in songs like "Crazy Love" and "Ones and Zeros" give the feeling of weightlessness in a dancehall filled with bubble-machine makers as colorful club lights wrap themselves around floating bubbles. This EP is filled with fun songs that fans of Monsters Are Waiting have come to expect. Also included in this EP is the fan favorite Stone Roses cover, "I Wanna Be Adored" which sadly I missed due to traffic.

You can get their cd on their website HERE or HERE. And check out better pictures from that night at Ross Reyes Photography HERE!!! And below is a vid for "Ones and Zeros."
